HubSpot UNBOUND 2026: The Biggest Updates You Need to Know

Written by Bart Kowalczyk | 16 September 2026, 02:00:01 Z

HubSpot has announced another major wave of updates around UNBOUND 2026 - but the bigger story isn't individual features.

HubSpot is becoming an AI-powered growth platform where your CRM data, AI agents and people work together across marketing, sales and customer service.

We've reviewed the announcements. Here are the changes we think businesses should pay attention to.

1. AI is moving from assistant to agent

Breeze is becoming much more embedded in day-to-day work.

The Prospecting Agent can identify accounts showing buying potential, find relevant contacts and help create personalised outreach. Smart Deal Progression can recommend CRM updates, follow-ups and next actions after meetings, while Buying Groups uses AI to help identify the wider buying committee around an opportunity.

For sales teams, the opportunity isn't simply to write emails faster. It's to use AI to help reps decide who to engage, when to engage them and what should happen next.

2. HubSpot is getting serious about AI search

One of the most interesting marketing announcements is HubSpot AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation).

Currently in public beta, it is designed to help businesses measure and improve how their brands appear in AI-generated answers.

This reflects a much bigger shift in marketing. Businesses can no longer optimise only for Google rankings. Increasingly, they also need to think about whether ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI platforms can understand, trust and surface their expertise.

3. Marketing becomes more connected to revenue

HubSpot is strengthening the connection between campaigns and CRM data. Campaign attribution can now extend across contacts, deals, tickets and custom objects, alongside enhanced campaign asset reporting.

There are also improvements across TikTok, Reddit, WhatsApp, email and forms — including the ability to connect deal properties to forms and automatically create deals from submissions.
The direction is clear: less disconnected marketing activity and better visibility of what actually contributes to revenue.

4. Customer service is becoming increasingly AI-powered

HubSpot's Customer Agent continues to expand.

Businesses can customise how their AI agent communicates, use structured company data to answer questions, analyse which knowledge sources perform best and control how the agent is rolled out. HubSpot is also introducing AI-assisted call notes, automated quality assurance and shared customer spaces.
For service teams, this creates an interesting model: AI handles more of the repetitive work while humans focus on conversations that genuinely need human judgement.

5. The CRM itself is getting smarter

Some of the less glamorous updates may actually have the biggest operational impact.

HubSpot is improving contact enrichment and buyer-intent signals while adding conditional property rules, CRM backups, default property values, subtasks and custom reports directly on CRM records.
These changes matter because AI is only as useful as the data underneath it. Businesses with poorly structured CRM data won't get the same value from the new generation of AI tools.

6. Data Hub is becoming much more important

HubSpot continues to strengthen its data capabilities, including AI-assisted dataset creation and connections with Redshift, Databricks and Azure Synapse. It is also improving multi-object dataset syncing and data-sync management.

For larger organisations, this pushes HubSpot further beyond being simply a CRM and towards becoming part of the wider business data architecture.

7. Commerce Hub is becoming a more complete quote-to-cash platform

There are substantial improvements around contracts, quotes, payments and revenue management.

HubSpot is adding contract renewal and amendment management, AI-assisted quote generation, automatic sales tax calculation, quote approvals, custom quote and line-item properties, multiple stored payment methods and improved Xero integration.

This should make it easier for businesses to connect the journey from opportunity → quote → contract → payment → revenue without relying on as many disconnected tools.

8. HubSpot is opening its data to the wider AI ecosystem

Perhaps one of the most strategically important announcements is HubSpot AI Connectors.

HubSpot data can be brought into tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Copilot, while HubSpot is also expanding its MCP capabilities for developers and Breeze Agents.
That points towards a future where your CRM isn't another application employees have to constantly open. Instead, HubSpot becomes a trusted source of customer data that AI tools can work with across the business.

What does UNBOUND 2026 really mean for HubSpot customers?

Our biggest takeaway isn't any single feature.

HubSpot is moving from being a system where people record work to a platform where people and AI increasingly do the work together.

That makes CRM strategy, clean data and clearly defined business processes even more important.

Adding AI on top of a poorly designed sales process won't magically fix it.

But businesses that combine good processes + structured CRM data + automation + AI have an opportunity to build much more scalable sales, marketing and customer service operations.

That's where we believe the real value of this year's HubSpot updates lies.
